A mom battling breast cancer is thankful for an act of kindness from a complete stranger. Amy Pettenato was dining with her family at a restaurant in Medford, New York and she was feeling a little self-conscious because she just shaved her head.
When she saw another mom looking at her and smiling, she felt insecure, but then the woman came over and sat down with her. She explained that she is a 13-year breast cancer survivor and encouraged Amy to stay positive and wished her luck before she left. And when Amy asked her server for her check, she found out the stranger had already paid it.
Amy says the act of kindness touched her to the core. “That was an angel, sent here to let me know ‘We’ve got you,’” she says.
