14th Street Buses Equipped with Cameras

A crackdown is beginning on Thursday on drivers who block buses on the 14th Street busway.

Cameras are being installed on the M14 Select Bus Service route to better enforce the rules of the road. The cameras will catch drivers who illegally park on the street and block buses.

“Taken together with customer-focused upgrades such as new bus boarding platforms, we expect to see continued, sustained improvements in bus speeds, M14 ridership and travel times,” MTA Managing Director Veronique Hakim said.

During a 60-day grace period, violators will receive a warning. Then escalating fines beginning at $50 will begin.
