Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg may be ready to shake up the race for president.
He’s filing paperwork on Friday for the Alabama primary, keeping his options open as he considers a run.
A spokesman for Bloomberg said that President Trump “represents an unprecedented threat to our nation.”
“We now need to finish the job and ensure that Trump is defeated -- but Mike is increasingly concerned that the current field of candidates is not well positioned to do that,” Howard Wolfson said.
Wolfson described Bloomberg’s record of running New York City, building his business and taking on challenges as a philanthropist.
“Based on his record of accomplishment, leadership and his ability to bring people together to drive change, Mike would be able to take the fight to Trump and win,” Wolfson said.
It’s still unclear whether Bloomberg will enter the race, or what his timeline is for making a decision.
