The only tanking the Dolphins were doing yesterday was the tank of Gatorade they doused head coach Brian Floreswith after the Fins beat—whom else—the New York Jets 26-18 yesterday in front of the hometown fans.
Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 24 of 36 passes for 288 yards and these three touchdown passes as the Dolphins, for at least one week, didn’t smell like three-day old fish.
The Dolphins avoided what would have been the second 0-8 start in franchise history. The last was in 2007. They also leave 0-8 Cincinnati as the NFL's lone winless team this season.
And that means the Bengals, not the Dolphins, are frontrunners to win the Number One pick in the 2020 NFL draft. And the Dolphins don’t even have the Number Two pick as of now as that would go to—yup—the Jets who are also 1-7 and are behind Miami after they have the head to head tie breaker.
