Extra Security For Village Halloween Parade

It’s a rainy Halloween and you’ll see a stepped up police presence for the 46th annual parade in the Village.

Costumed characters will be marching down Sixth Avenue beginning at 7 p.m.

Police Commissioner James O’Neill said extra cops will be on the job because of the terror attack two years ago.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to always maintain public safety every day, in every neighborhood. From that tragic experience two years ago, we learned that while greatly saddened, New Yorkers will never be deterred,” O’Neill said.

On Halloween in 2017, eight people were killed when a rented pickup truck slammed into a crowd of people on the West Side.
