Suspect Killed in Police-Involved Shooting in Brooklyn

A suspect has died after being shot by police in Brooklyn.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Gowanus Houses where they encountered a gunman.

“The officers immediately identified themselves as police and gave multiple orders to drop the weapon. At this time, both officers fired numerous rounds at the male who was struck several times,” said NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan.

The suspect was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Monahan said the suspect was recently released from prison after serving five years on a robbery charge. He was on parole and had an illegal weapon that was recovered at the scene.
