Leonardo Elementary School in Middletown Township, New Jersey has a new vending machine and everyone loves it. But it doesn’t dispense candy or sodas, instead it’s filled with books and stellar students are given gold coins to use to get a book of their choice.
The Bookworm Vending Machine is known as “Inchy” and can hold between 200 and 300 books. Kids are rewarded with the gold coins for winning Student of the Month or other good behaviors and principal Peter Smith says he hopes Inchy encourages them to read more outside the classroom.
