New York City Cracks Down On Phony Statue Of Liberty Tickets

Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced an effort to crackdown on the sale of illegal tickets to the Statue of Liberty.

“Tourists and visitors have been taken for a ride, and it’s unacceptable. We won’t let up until illegal and deceitful practices are a thing of the past,” de Blasio said.

Tourists are sometimes scammed into buying the illegal tickets that will take them on a boat past the statue, but won’t actually let them off. Actor Alec Baldwin admits he fell for one of these scams over the weekend.

De Blasio said the NYPD is committing resources to stop ticket sellers and their companies in Battery Park.
