Hero Uses A Baseball Bat To Save Girl From Dog Attack

Bronx resident Bobby Mahone is being hailed as a hero after he rescued a four-year-old girl who was being attacked by a pit bull while waiting for the school bus Wednesday morning.

Mahone told the New York Post that he was helping his daughters get ready for school when he noticed two unchained pit bulls acting aggressively outside of his home. He said he was about to call 911 to report the unattended dogs when he heard screaming.

"I came to the door and one of the dogs had chomped down on the face of a 4-year-old girl who was waiting at the bus stop. The first thing that came to mind was to grab something to make him let go. And that's what I did," said Mahone.

The 43-year-old grabbed a baseball bat and hit the dog approximately 20 times before it released the child and ran away.

Mahone stayed with the child and her mother until an ambulance arrived. The girl was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where she is listed in critical but stable condition.
