Governor Andrew Cuomo says the L Tunnel Rehabilitation Project should be complete by April 2020, three months ahead of schedule.
He announced that rehabilitation of the first tube has wrapped up after five months and the second phase would begin immediately. That means that the project should take just 12 months to complete, rather than the estimated timeline of 15 to 18 months.
"Today we saw up close what happens when you abandon the old ways of doing things and think outside the box - you get the work done better, faster and cheaper. And in this case you get a better and safer tunnel than before," Governor Cuomo said.
