Mayor Bill de Blasio says he’s willing to find a way to address the lack of diversity in elite high schools in the city, while keeping the admissions test.
De Blasio said he believes getting rid of the test is best way to fix the problem, but admitted attempts to address it haven’t worked.
“We're going to listen to everything because our plan didn't work. I think it was a good plan, but it didn't get passed,” de Blasio said.
He said elite high schools don’t reflect the city as a whole, with too few minority students being admitted.
“I don't think you can truly change things by keeping the same test in place, but some would argue there's a way to do it while keeping the test and we have to have that dialogue too,” de Blasio said.
