Dirty Subway Cars Causing Delays

The MTA’s dirty subway cars aren’t just gross, they’re causing delays.

The agency’s own stats show that complaints of garbage, food spills and waste for this year have already surpassed the number for all of 2017. There have been more than 1,600 complaints and soiled or dirty cars are blamed for 1 percent of delays. In 2017, there were about 1,500 complaints.

The MTA insists that subway cars aren’t getting dirtier, just that more people are making complaints.
