Explosives Scare Cancels New Jersey Labor Day Parade

A Labor Day Parade was canceled in South Plainfield, New Jersey after explosives were found near the parade route.

Thomas Kaiser, 55, has been arrested and charged with possession of a destructive device.

The scare began after a cooler of fireworks were found. That led to a search of Kaiser’s home which turned up even more fireworks.

Kaiser claims he planned to set off the fireworks at a concert on Sunday night, but wasn’t allowed. The parade was canceled as a precaution.

Governor Phil Murphy was among those expected to attend the parade.
