PBA Approves “No Confidence” Resolution Against Mayor De Blasio

Cops upset with the firing of Officer Daniel Pantaleo are taking action.

The PBA has unanimously approved no confidence resolutions against Mayor de Blasio and Police Commissioner James O’Neill. They want O’Neill to resign and are calling on Governor Andrew Cuomo to remove the mayor from office.

“For years, Mayor de Blasio has demonized police officers and undermined our efforts to protect our city. For years, Commissioner O’Neill has cravenly acquiesced to the Mayor and his anti-cop allies. The unjust termination of P.O. Daniel Pantaleo was merely the final straw: both men have displayed an appalling pattern of malfeasance and nonfeasance that disqualifies them from continuing to serve in their current offices,” PBA President Pat Lynch said in a statement.

Lynch said neither can regain the trust or confidence of New York City police and must resign or be fired.

At the same time the NYPD admits officers are making fewer arrests. In the week after Pantaleo was fired, arrests were down 27 percent.

“They’re upset.I know they’re upset, but they’re doing their job as well as they’ve ever done keeping people safe in this city. I have no fear that they would allow anyone to get hurt by not doing their job,” NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan said.
