Mummified Remains Found During Sexual Assault Arrest

Robert Frank Williams of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested after his home was raided by Newark Police after a tip came in accusing the man of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Newark police officers were joined in the arrest by the Special Victims Unit of the Essex County Prosecutors Office. During the search of the suspects home, investigators were shocked to find mummified human remains alongside a makeshift altar.

The 53-year-old suspect was charged with second-degree desecration of human remains, second degree luring, first degree endangering the welfare of a child, and first degree aggravated sexual assault for penetration of a child under 13-years-old.

According to an article published in the New York Post, Williams has allegedly been molesting the young girl for several months.

A spokesperson for the Newark Police said the mummified remains have not been identified yet and the religious origins of the alter are still being investigated.
