Woodstock's 50th Anniversary Celebration Kicks Off In Bethel, NY

Woodstock 50 is officially underway in Bethel, New York. No, not the scandal-plagued megalith that was supposed to happen this weekend in Maryland (after it was supposed to take place in upstate New York).

Brooklyn-native and original Woodstock artist Arlo Guthrie kicked off the 50th anniversary celebration. Other musical acts taking the stage include John Fogerty, Ringo Starr, Santana and the Doobie Brothers.

Back in 1969, just 50-thousand people were expected on Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel to enjoy a message of love, peace and music, but instead, some 400-thousand people showed up.
