Newark Deals With Water Crisis

Governor Phil Murphy is expected to visit Newark on Wednesday, as the city deal with a water crisis.

Elevated levels of lead has been discovered in the water and Murphy will tour a water distribution center.

Bottled water has been handed out to city residents, but that was temporarily suspended on Tuesday when it was discovered that the bottles were past the expiration date.About 20,000 cases had an expiration date of May 30, 2019.

New bottled water was brought in, even though officials said the older bottled water was still safe to drink.Residents have been told not to drink tap water.

“We’ve been closely supporting the @CityofNewarkNJ’s efforts to distribute bottled water while water testing continues,” Murphy tweeted.
