44 Arrests Made In New Jersey Prostitution Sting

Paterson New Jersey officials have issued a stern warning to folks looking to buy sex, "Stay out Of Paterson." The proclamation was issued after 44 arrests for prostitution were made in one night.

The prostitution sting consisted of two different strategies. Phase one had male police officers asking prostitutes for sexual favors. Phase two had female officers posing as prostitutes looking to party with "johns."

The investigation was launched after area residents complained about the unseemly happenings near Van Houten Street and East 18th Street.

According to an article posted by nbcnewyork.com, 12 of those arrested were alleged prostitutes, 25 were alleged "johns" and six of the arrests made involved drugs and aggravated assault on police officers.

Paterson's Public Safety Director Jerry Seziale Jr. said," In the future, we will release photographs of all involved in prostitution and soliciting prostitution to the media. Stay out of Paterson for illegal prostitution. The message should be loud and clear."
