New Jersey Double Murder Suspect Was Upset Over Breakup

A man accused of killing a comedy club owner and a nanny in Maplewood, New Jersey was apparently upset after being dumped.

Joseph Porter is accused of killing 26-year-old Karen Bermudez-Rodriguez and David Kimowitz. Court records show the murders came just a few hours after Bermudez-Rodriguez broke up with Porter.

She sent several text messages to Porter to end the relationship and asked him to return the keys to the home in Maplewood. Instead, he allegedly used the keys to enter the home and then stab Kimowitz to death.

Porter then allegedly chased Bermudez-Rodriguez into the street where he stabbed her. Porter is facing murder and weapons charges.

Kimowitz’s wife and children were away for the weekend.
