Unprovoked Attack On City Bus Leaves Man Missing Eight Teeth

Dion Strickland is recovering from a vicious physical attack that left him missing eight teeth.

The 55-year-old Bronx man was riding on MTA bus BX39 when another passenger came up to him and started punching him in the face.

According to police records, the unproved attack occurred while the bus was traveling southbound on East 180th Street and Third Avenue at approximately 11:00 pm on July 2.

According to an article published in the New York Post, after the assault, the suspect jumped off the bus in the Van Nest neighborhood and fled the scene of the crime.

Strickland refused treatment at the scene but went to a local hospital where he was treated for facial cuts and swelling as well as emergency dental care in an attempt to save the eight teeth that were knocked out.

The attack comes just a few weeks after the MTA added 500 police officers to the transit system to combat assaults on drivers and reduce the growing number of fare beaters.
