Cab Crash In Midtown Leaves Two People Injured

Dozens of Midtown Manhattan pedestrians scrambled for safety as a yellow cab jumped the curb and smashed into scaffolding set up near the Urban Outfitters on West 43rd Street and Fifth Avenue this morning.

Authorities released a statement in the New York Post that said the driver of the mini-van taxi appeared to have suffered a medical emergency causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash.

The driver and one pedestrian were injured in the accident. Both were taken to the Bellevue Hospital Center to be treated for unspecified injuries.

Several witnesses of the crash rushed into action and helped the stunned pedestrians. Witness Mike Riley said he and his family had to dive into a bike lane to avoid being injured.

Police and Fire Department personnel did not know the condition of the cabbie.
