Bigot Attacks Transgender Woman

Paola Custodio of Elmhurst was arrested early Saturday morning after she allegedly attacked a transgender woman in Jackson Heights.

An article in the New York Daily News claims the suspect shouted angry anti-transgender slurs at the women before dousing her with an unidentified liquid that caused her chest to burn and turn red.

The 43-year-old victim, who also hails from Jackson Heights, was on her way home from celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stone Wall riots refused medical treatment at the scene of the attack.

Police records show that Custodio was arraigned in Criminal Court and released without bail. He was charged with felony assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment.

The suspect has seven prior arrests on her record according to a police source, including a Queens burglary charge on February 24. Custodio has also been issued an order of protection barring her from contact with the victim.
