MTA Board Member Wants To Shame Fare Beaters

One MTA board member wants to crackdown on fare beaters by publicly shaming them.

“I would like to see us capturing this behavior on camera and then posting it publicly,” Sarah Feinberg said during an MTA hearing on Monday.

It’s estimated that fare evasion cost the MTA $225 million last year. That figure could reach $260 million in 2019.

“When people are publicly embarrassed by this kind of behavior it helps address it,” Feinberg said.
