Consumable CBD Product Ban Starts July 1 In NYC

The time for consumable CBD retailers to remove products from the shelves is fast approaching thanks to a ban on the products from the New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Starting July 1st any store that sells ingestible CBD products will have them removed from their shelves because of a Food and Drug Administration ruling. CBD products like creams, gels and cosmetics will not be included in the ban.

Stores that continue to sell illegal CBD products after October 1 of this year will be fined from $200 to $650.

Steven Phan who owns two Manhattan CBD stores told the New York Post that he purchased 400 cases of CBD infused gummy bears earlier this year but plans on holding off on his next order until a compromise is met between retailers and government.

The New York City health department released a statement that read: The Health Department is responsible for promoting the safety of the food available to New Yorkers.
