A new plan has been unveiled that will prevent cars from traveling on most of 14th Street.
The ban on traffic from Third to Ninth Avenues will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. beginning on July 1st. The goal is to speed up buses on the street and the new rules will be strictly enforced.
“You can’t park in a bus lane. It’s selfish. It holds up on a bus route as busy as this - thousands of people,” NYC Transit President Andy Byford said.
There will be a limited number of exceptions to the car ban, including those making pickups and drop-offs and vehicles that are parking at local garages.
