NYPD Launches "Summer All Out Program”

More cops are hitting the street on Thursday.

Nearly 300 officers are being pulled from desk duty and put on patrol as part of a program known as “Summer All Out.” It’s part of an effort to combat an expected increase in violence during the summer months.

“We wanted to make sure we had our cops out there and trained. They’ll be there for the Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend,” Chief of Department Terence Monahan said.

For the first time, some of the 287 officers will also be sent into the subway system.

The program will run through September 6th and was successful last year in reducing violence.
