Mayor De Blasio's Son Dante Considering Career In Politics

Annual West Indian Day Parade Held In Brooklyn

Mayor Bill de Blasio's son Dante has talked to his family about pursuing a career in politics eventually.

Dante, 21, just graduated from Yale University. He tells 710 WOR's Lisa G. that he's considering what his future holds.

"I mean, maybe," He told WOR regarding a future political campaign. "We've talked a bit about it."

But politics is a long-term goal. Right now, the younger de Blasio is most looking forward to "resting for a little bit" on an upcoming trip to Asia. He added that he fully supports his father's campaign for President of the United States, saying the Mayor can be a progressive voice in the crowded democratic field.

Dante adds that he's "pretty undecided" on how he wants to start his career, whether in the public or private sector. Whatever he does, he says he's sure that he wants to be in New York.

President Trump and Mayor de Blasio recently sparred publicly via Twitter. Dante says, he, like many Americans, is troubled by how much time the president spends insulting people on social media.
