6 Corrections Officers Indicted For Illegal Strip Searches

An investigation into illegal strip searches conducted at the Manhattan Detention Complex has led to the indictment of six female corrections officers.

The female officers who were not unidentified face felony and misdemeanor charges for conducting and covering up strip searches and body cavity searches on female visitors.

Police sources say the officers falsified records by claiming they had not searched female visitors when they actually had.

An article published in the New York Post states the full extent of the alleged crimes committed by the guards is unclear.

Of the six female Corrections officers arrested, one is known to be a captain.

All six employees of the New York Department of Corrections are expected to turn themselves in to authorities today.

A reason for the illegal searches has yet to be revealed and it is unknown if the six women accused have been suspended.
