A funeral is taking place on Friday for a New York City firefighter and Marine who was killed in Afghanistan.
The casket containing the body of Staff Sergeant Christopher Slutman will travel on a fire truck from a funeral home in the Bronx to St. Thomas Church in Manhattan where the funeral takes place.
Slutman was a 43-year-old father of three and a 15-year veteran of the FDNY. He was killed earlier this month in a roadside explosion that also claimed the life of two other Marines.
During his time as a firefighter, he was recognized for saving a woman from a burning building.
