MTA Fares Increase This Weekend

Subway and bus riders in New York City will be paying more beginning this weekend.

On Sunday, the MTA is getting rid of the 5-percent pay-per-ride bonus that riders receive. The base fare is remaining at $2.75. The cost of a weekly MetroCard is increasing from $32 to $33, while a 30-day card jumps by six dollars to $127.

Tickets on Metro North and the Long Island Rail Road will increase by an average of four percent. Tolls at the MTA’s bridges and tunnels rose earlier this month.
