NYC's Milk Bar Changes “Crack Pie” Name After Obvious Criticism

New York City based Milk Bar is changing the unfortunate name of one of their signature desserts following criticism.

For years the chain of bakery restaurants has counted the buttery "Crack Pie" among its top sellers, but they're now calling it the "Milk Bar Pie” for obvious reasons. A column in the Boston Globe may have helped convince them, which said it was wrong to allude to the 1980s crack epidemic and use the language of addiction concerning food.

The restaurant shared the decision by saying “The old name was getting in the way of letting the gooey, buttery slice bring happiness— my only goal in creating the thing in the first place.”

Milk Bar launched in 2008 and can now be found in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, Washington, DC and Toronto.
