Body Found In Search For Missing Staten Island Teacher

Investigators continue working to determine if the body found in a Staten Island storage facility is that of a missing school teacher.

Jeanine Cammarata disappeared over the weekend and on Thursday a body burned beyond recognition was found.

“Currently the New York City medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the identification and the cause of death of this individual,” NYPD Assistant Chief William Aubry said.

Aubry said search warrants are being executed, witnesses are being interviewed and they’re still reviewing evidence.

Cammarata’s estranged husband Michael Cammarata is being held on assault charges, but has not been charged in connection with her disappearance. The couple was reportedly going through a divorce.

Friends of Jeanine Cammarata got worried when she didn’t show up to work on Monday. She was a teacher at P.S. 29 on Staten Island.
