Mets Play Their Home Opener on Thursday

The Mets will play in front of the home fans for the first time on Thursday, taking on the Washington Nationals at Citi Field.

Noah Syndergaard gets the start in the home opener, after the Mets completed a 3-game sweep of the Miami Marlins. Jacob de Grom was dominant in the series finale, throwing 7 shutout innings and striking out 14.

“That was probably the best I’ve felt in a long time,” de Grom said.

De Grom also hit his second career homerun in the win.

The Mets enter their home opener with a record of 5 and 1.
