Congestion Pricing Moves Forward

Congestion pricing is a step closer to becoming a reality in New York City.

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said their chamber is ready to approve the plan, but a number of details still need to be worked out. That includes how much to charge drivers traveling south of 60th Street and how to stop drivers from paying more than once.

The extra revenue would be used to pay for subway repairs and improvements. Some lawmakers had been opposed to the proposal, believing the money should benefits other areas of the state too.

Governor Andrew Cuomo and the State Senate already support congestion pricing.
