Legalized Marijuana in New Jersey Short of Needed Votes

New Jersey state lawmakers are just days away from voting on a measure to legalize marijuana, but they’re still short of the necessary votes.

“We still have a ways to go,” Governor Phil Murphy said.

Committees in the State Senate and Assembly gave its approval earlier this week to a measure that would legalize, regulate and tax recreational marijuana in the state. But its fate remains up in the air when the full legislature votes next week.

“We’re working the phones hard.We all have to pull our weight.I have no reason to believe we all are not, but it’s going to be an all in.It’s going to take a village to get this one done,” Murphy said.
