Mayor de Blasio Doesn't Believe Amazon Will Come to New York City

Mayor Bill de Blasio says he’s seen “no evidence” that Amazon is reconsidering its decision to pull out of a deal to build a second headquarters in Long Island City.

My team has certainly made clear to the folks at Amazon, if they want to engage in discussions, we will certainly have discussions. But there is no evidence this point that there’s any interest,” Mayor de Blasio said.

Amazon had agreed to move to Long Island City as part of a deal that would have created at least 25,000 jobs. But Amazon later backed out because of some local opposition to the tax breaks and incentives the company was receiving.

Governor Cuomo said he’s talked to Amazon about whether they’d reconsider, but he admits they haven’t given any indication they would return to the deal.
