Governor Cuomo Talks Taxes with President Trump

Governor Andrew Cuomo will be in Washington D.C. on Tuesday to meet with President Trump about the Republican tax law.

Tax changes limit local and state tax deductions to $10,000, which negatively impacts many New Yorkers. Cuomo said the New York budget is already seeing a $2 billion shortfall because people are leaving the state.

This changes the economic trajectory of the state. People are mobile and they will go to a better tax environment. That is not a hypothesis. That is a fact,” Cuomo said.

The governor alleges the tax plan was designed to hurt Democratic states.

“It has redistributed wealth in this nation from Democratic states—we're also called blue states—to red states. You have an administration that loves to say they're against redistribution. They have done it on the highest level imaginable,” Cuomo said.
