Popular comic Artie Lange has been arrested and is currently locked up in Essex County Jail for possession of a controlled substance according to an article published in the New York Post.
A message sent out by a Lange spokesperson stated that the troubled funnyman will be undergoing a long term drug treatment program after he is released from jail.
Last December Lange was busted after he tested positive for cocaine but was not sentenced to any jail time despite already being on probation for heroin possession. The judge who ordered probation for Lange on the heroin charge also ordered Lange to apply to drug court during an appearance at state Superior Court in Newark.
Recent photographs of Lange show the 51-year-old comic with a terribly misshapen nose which Lange attributed to years of snorting heroin and cocaine in a tweet.
Lange's website features a message saying, starting today, Artie will be undergoing a long-term treatment program, he loves and respects his fans…updates coming soon...and it's time.
