Typo Allegedly Left Wanted Man Free Long Enough to Commit Murder

A civilian employee of the NYPD made a clerical error on police paperwork that allowed a violent sex offender to roam free. The police believe the error may have allowed the wanted man time to kill Johynita Jordan.

The police allege that 31-year-old Linden Beaton was a suspect in the beating of Beatrice Kalika when they launched an investigation into the crime. The investigation abruptly stopped after the records indicated that the case was closed.

According to an article in the New York Post the police didn't notice the clerical error until Beatrice Kalika was released from the hospital and called to ask how the investigation into her case was going.

When the mistake was noticed and the investigation was reopened the cops spotted Beaton on surveillance video arguing with Johynita Jorden outside of the house her dead body was found in.

After releasing the photo of Beaton and circulating it throughout the five boroughs Beaton was tracked down and arrested.
