Crook Uses His Car in a Smash and Grab Robbery

The Suffolk County Police arrested Robert Persad for intentionally crashing his car through the front window of a Sunoco gas station. The smash and grab robbery took place at the Brentwood Road Sunoco at 3:30 am.

After ramming his car through the front door and window the suspect can be seen climbing out the car door and entering the gas station. Persad allegedly stole over $200 worth of cigarettes and some petty cash that was left out in the open at the closed gas station.

After a brief investigation, the cops were able to track down Persad in Deer Park and place him under arrest. An article in the New York Post stated that Persad was arraigned in Suffolk County District Court in Islip and charged with burglary, and criminal mischief.

According to police records ‘smash and grab' robberies have been on the uptick over the past few years. Just last August the NYPD busted a homeless man who admitted to 9 ‘smash and grab' break-ins after they caught him walking down the street with a big screen TV in tow.
