“Today” weatherman Al Roker is defending a meteorologist who allegedly used a racial slur during a TV broadcast.
Jeremy Kappell of WHEC in Rochester, New York, was referencing Martin Luther King, Junior, in a broadcast last week when he appeared to slip in a racial slur. He was fired over the incident, but Kappell says he merely jumbled the words “King” and Junior” creating what sounded like a slur.
Roker came to his defense in a tweet yesterday saying that he thinks Kappell made an unfortunate flub and should be given a chance to apologize. Roker said anyone who has done live TV and screwed up understands.
