Dr. Perry graduated from Rutgers College magna cum laude with high distinction in zoology and received his MD degree with distinction in research from the Albany MedicalCollege of Union University in 1981.
After training in general surgery at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Hospital and in burn surgery at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center,he trained in plastic surgerywith Thomas J. Krizek, MD, FACS, at the University of Chicago. After his Chief Residency in Chicago, he took extra training in facial cosmetic surgery with Drs. Baker and Gordon in Miami.
Dr. Perry joined the full-time faculty of the Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1987. Now in private practice, he spent 12 years teaching plastic surgery residents at the University of Pennsylvania and now serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgery at Columbia University and Clinical Associate Professor at Rutgers. In his Somerset New Jersey and Park Avenue Manhattan offices, his practice is devoted to cosmeticsurgery where he helps teachcosmetic surgery techniques to Columbia and Cornell trainees. He is the Co-surgeon in Chief at the Greenwich Street Surgical Suites in Tribeca and is on the staff of Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospitals.
Dr. Perry is certified by the AmericanBoard of PlasticSurgery, Inc. and is a Fellow of the AmericanCollege of Surgeons. He has published dozensof scientific papersin medical journalsand has also written chapters in medical textbooks.
Dr. Perry spent 10 years as the Governor’s appointee to the New JerseyState Board of Medical Examiners and has won awards for his research, his clinical practice, his writing and was honored to receive the Distinguished ServiceAward for Outstanding Contributions to Plastic Surgery by the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeonsfor his work on the State Board.He wrote Are You Considering CosmeticSurgery? and Straight Talk about Cosmetic Surgery(Yale University Press),2007’s best healthbook award winner.His New York Times best seller You- Being Beautiful wasco-authored with Drs. Michael Roizenand Mehmet Oz.
Dr. Perry been on the Boards of Trustees of his countymedical society and the stateplastic surgery society and was the Chiefof Plastic Surgeryat New Jersey’s Robert Wood Johnson SomersetMedical Center. He has been listed in the New York Area Top Doctorsbook from 1999 through 2023. He has been listedin New Jersey Life magazine's Top New JerseyDoctors, New Jersey Magazine's Top Doctors, and New York Magazine’s Top Doctors.
Dr. Perry has operated on the Discovery Channeland on the Dr. Oz show and has been a guest on PBS, Good Morning America,Oprah, Red TableTalk, Tamron Hall, and other programs. His 11 appearances on Dr. Oz includedthe live removalof Jimmy Fallon’smole. He was a memberof the medical advisory board for the Dr. Oz show and has been on Oprah and FriendsRadio five timesand is a frequent gueston New York and national radio shows. For over 17 years, He has hosted a plasticsurgery show Saturdays at 6 pm on WOR radio. He has been quoted in USA Today, the New York Times,Esquire, Oprah Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and other magazines.
Dr. Perry developed his own line of skin care products, producing scientifically proven, nontoxic, fairly priced skin care products.
