NYPD Hunts for Hate Crime Suspect

The NYPD is looking for a suspect involved in a possible hate crime after a 9-year-old Hasidic boy was punched in the face as he walked home.

The 9-year-old victim, who was dressed in traditional Hasidic garb, was walking to his home in Williamsburg Sunday evening when a teenage boy approached him and punched him several times in the face.

Witnesses of the crime told the New York Daily News that they did not recognize the suspect and that no words were exchanged between the victim and the suspect before the attack occurred.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force released a video that shows the suspect leaving the scene of the crime and is asking for help in identifying the attacker. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-6 light-skinned black male between 14 and 18-years-old. He was last seen wearing a grey hoodie, dark jeans, and white sneakers.

If you have any information on the crime please call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
