Ex-Hoboken Mayor Fined Over Campaign Contributions

Former Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano III, three members of his slate, and their campaign treasurer have been fined a total of $93,330 in fires.

The Election Law Enforcement Commission issued the fines because they did not report more than one million in contributions during a 2009 campaign. They failed to report the contributions in a timely fashion.

Cammarano won the mayor's seat in 2009 but was accused of accepting cash bribes in an undercover sting called "Operation Big Rig." He was arrested in less than a month of being in office and served two years in prison.
