20 People Hurt When Car Smashes into Social Security Office

The Social Security office in Egg Harbor, New Jersey was badly damaged this morning when a driver trying to park her car mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

The accident critically injured 2 people and another 20 were hurt when the car jumped the parking curb and slammed through the front window and rammed into the lobby of the building.

Police sources say the crash is currently being considered an accident but the investigation will be in progress until the dozens of people inside the Social Security building are questioned.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, a female passenger in the car that was involved in the wreak was among those who suffered critical injuries. The two children that were in the vehicle at the time of the crash escaped injury as both were strapped in car seats.

AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Hospital spokeswoman Jennifer Tornetta said, "15 of the 20 people hurt in the crash were treated and released with minor injuries."
