Less than three weeks before election day, a new poll shows Governor Andrew Cuomo has a commanding lead over his Republican opponent Marc Molinaro.
The Quinnipiac University poll shows Cuomo with a 58 to 35 lead among likely voters. That includes a 77 to 13 percent advantage in New York City, while Molinaro has a 52 to 41 percent edge upstate.
"Besides running in a deeply blue state against Governor Andrew Cuomo, a two-term incumbent with a big advantage in campaign funds, the lack of name recognition for Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro is a huge hurdle to overcome in less than three weeks until Election Day," polling analyst Mary Snow said.
Among likely voters, Governor Cuomo has a 51 to 40 percent favorability rating. Molinaro has a 28 to 22 percent favorability rating, with 48 percent saying they don’t know enough about him.
"Besides running in a deeply blue state against Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a two-term incumbent with a big advantage in campaign funds, the lack of name recognition for Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro is a huge hurdle to overcome in less than three weeks until Election Day," Snow said.
