Brawl Between Father and Son Ends in Homicide

What started out as an argument between a father and son has morphed into charges of manslaughter and negligent homicide against the son after the father died from injuries sustained during a physical altercation.

Brian Murphy admitted to attacking his 75-year-old father and slamming him into a wall during an August argument that led to the elderly man's death.

A Police report that appeared in the New York Post indicates that the son called 911 and falsely reported that his father was acting irrational and disoriented when he stopped by to check in on him. The son asked for EMT's to come and check out his father who appeared in need of medical attention.

The father was taken to the hospital where his condition continued to worsen until he died from excessive bleeding on the brain. The Medical examiner who performed the autopsy ruled that the death of the elderly man should be listed as a homicide.

Forty-six-year-old Frank Murphy will be arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court later this week.
