Female Cop Is Suing NYC Over Breast Pumping Problem

An NYPD officer is suing the City of New York as well as Mayor Bill de Blasio for $5,000,000 because she claims to have developed mastitis after being denied a suitable place to pump her breasts while at work.

Simone Teagle, an officer with the 113th precinct in Queens told the New York Post that the city failed to provide her and other breastfeeding mothers with a private and clean space to pump their breasts while they are on the job.

Officer Teagle said the pumping at work problem began when she returned from maternity leave. Teagle claims that her superiors would roll their eyes or make snide comments when she asked for a safe and clean place to pump her breasts.

"I know there are other women who have dealt with the breast pump issue. Most of them just stopped breastfeeding because they didn't want to deal with it" said Teagle.

Teagle said she now pumps her breasts in her car when she feels them start to fill up and become uncomfortable.
