A mother of two was viciously beaten and left lying on the ground unconscious after being attacked in front of her 4-year-old-son yesterday.
The unidentified victim had just picked up one of her sons from a nearby pre-school when the suspect approached and demanded her purse. As the woman started to hand over her pocketbook the suspect punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground.
Witnesses of the attack told the New York Daily News that even though the woman was down on the ground the assailant continued kicking and striking the woman while her young son stood there screaming for help. A group of men chased the attacker but lost him when he climbed a fence and jumped to a rooftop.
The victim's husband, who asked to not be identified, said his wife is feeling pain all over her body, from her head to her chest. He also said that his son is scared that the mugger will come back to get them.
The NYPD described the mugger as a black man between 40 and 50-years-old. He stands about 5 foot 8 and weighs around 150 lbs.
