Mets ace Jacob deGrom took the hill for what was likely his final start of what should end up as a Cy Young Award winning season.
Mets finally got on the board in the bottom of the 6th when Dom Smith singled in the first run of the game and gave the Amazins and Jacob deGrom a 1-0 lead.
deGrom was brilliant, striking out 10 through 8 innings, and heading to the dugout with a 1-0 heading to the 9th after throwing 110 pitches and 10 strikeouts. Would that be it for Jake?
Michael Conforto added one more run with a solo HR in the bottom of the 8th and it was 2-0 NY.
Dom Smith added one more with a solo HR as well, 3-0 NY heading to the 9th
deGrom was indeed done after 8, and Seth Lugo came on to try and shut it down for the Mets.
1-2-3 went the Braves and the Mets and deGrom had a win. deGrom gets a winning record and his ERA is at 1.70. He's in the drivers seat for the 2018 NL Cy Young Award.
The Mets wrap up the three-game series at 7:10 PM on Thursday, Mets on Deck at 6:05.
